World Religion Day 2017

Come together on Saturday, February 18th, 2017 in honor of World Religion Day from 5pm to 8pm to celebrate an evening of fellowship, food and culture. We ask all interested to bring prayers for peace and unity from their faith traditions to share.

The first World Religion Day was held in 1950 initially organized by members of the Bahá’ís of the United States inspired by the belief in the oneness of religion and humanity to inspire an awareness that we are truly one people sharing one planet. In a time of great uncertainty and increasing tensions, we are challenged as a faith community to seek opportunities to sow seeds of love and unity. One such way is to come together to strengthen our bonds of friendship through deepening our awareness that what we have in common is far greater than any difference that could separate us.

The Universal House of Justice issued the following message to the world’s religious leaders in 1992 stating, “We owe it to our partners in this common effort, however, to state clearly our conviction that interfaith discourse, if it is to contribute meaningfully to healing the ills that afflict a desperate humanity, must now address honestly . . . the implications of the over-arching truth . . . that God is one and that, beyond all diversity of cultural expression and human interpretation, religion is likewise one.”
