Topic: Recover Better -Exploring the Inequalities exposed by COVID-19

Life in the 21st century continues to be riddled with inequities, such as gender and race, populations uprooted and displaced, and poverty. Many struggle to stay afloat in such environments because of certain disadvantages. Society has attempted to address these inequities. The Civil Rights movement, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights have been but a few examples. This year’s Human Rights Day theme relates to the COVID-19 pandemic and on the need to focus on Human Rights as central to recovery efforts. We will reach our common global goals only if we are able to create equal opportunities for all. We must address the failures exposed by COVID-19 and apply human rights standards so to tackle entrenched, systematic, and intergenerational inequalities, exclusion and discrimination. Please join us to explore these themes and more at Human Rights Day 2020, co-sponsored with the United Nations Organization, Phoenix Chapter.
