The Human Rights Day observance honors the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation, on December 10th 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the first global enunciation of human rights and one of the first major achievements of the then newly formed United Nations. The Declaration established the basic concepts of dignity, liberty, equality and brotherhood. It outlines spiritual, public and political freedoms, such as freedom of thought, opinion, religion and conscience. The peace, stability and prosperity of all the different regions of the world are undeniably interconnected and local solutions cannot be intelligently considered in isolation from global reality. When we hear statistics of human rights violations we must never forget that each number represents a person—an individual with intrinsic value and human rights.

Please join us to explore these themes and more at Human Rights Day 2021, sponsored by: Bahá’ís of Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Fountain Hills with the United Nations Organization, Phoenix Chapter, and the Arizona Faith Network.
